PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE NARRATOR’S INSTRUCTIONS!
After you’ve seen the video, read on:
I said that if I found a video that was a real cracker, I would do one of my famous-in-my-own-lunchtime Videos on Sundays …
… well, I found this one on Youtube.
In fact, it’s the exact same video that I used to show students of our training division (before I gave it away to my ex-business-partner).
If you want to learn about WHY this works and HOW you can use these concepts in your own marketing, read Ramit Sethi’s spot-on post:
But, first be sure to let me know what you thought of this video!
I lost count because of the gorilla – and then I started asking what else I was missing (like the letters on the wall at the back). Maybe I should get myself checked out for ADHD?
I’m afraid I can only partly agree with Ramit Sethi’s post – I do want the detail. I am willing to spend time to understand the nuts and bolts of investments. I definitely do not want to just put my money into somebody’s recomended automatic investment programme – regardless of whether it’s designed specifically for me or not. Such an approach may work for a lot of people but it will not work for me. I want to know exactly what I am doing with my money and why. I also have only limited interest in an approach which is likely to be designed to produce (at best) only average returns.
I got the right count and saw the gorilla, so did 2 other peeps I asked to watch it….
I got the count right, but missed the Gorilla.
seriously, I don’t think it actually passed by in the video, before he rewound. lol
was a god test though
However, a little unfair, as I was doing what I was told, and that was to count something, so other items didn’t seem important at that moment.Unless it was a fire, I don’t think I would have seen it.
@ Trainee – It’s why headlines such as “How to break the bank using bonds!” and “7 secrets that professional bond traders do NOT want you to know!” FAR exceed – in terms of ‘pulling power’ – headlines such as “How bond investing REALLY works!”
Of course, SOME people still respond to the last headline š
@ Steve – It’s a 50/50 thing … but, buffering may cause a slowdown allowing >50% to see the gorilla.
I know that when I first saw this, I didn’t believe the rewind either … definitely NO gorilla, as far I was concerned! š
I got the correct count and saw the gorilla in the first take (although, just barely).
I guess if you have great focus, you block out that which isn’t important to the task at hand š
I don’t have great focus, but enough to get the job done, especially if the task takes little cognitive ability…
Overall, pretty cool! I can’t wait to try it out on my wife and kids š
bananas
@ Money Reasons – That’s it! I’m not stupid … I just have “great focus”. Thanks! š
