I stayed far far away from divorce law in law school, but each state is different. NY is fault based but Cali is not.

But in NY regardless of fault you are going to go through equitable distribution which is why your post is 100% correct!

Its relatively the same rules here. For clarification – the reason divorce doesn’t matter is because of Equitable Distribution.
